Pat Maloney, Jr. Honored by St. Mary’s Hispanic Law Alumni Association with Henry B. Gonzalez Award
The St. Mary’s Hispanic Law Alumni Association recently recognized Pat Maloney, Jr. with the Henry B. Gonzalez Award. This year’s awards ceremony took place on April 6, 2024.
“This is an incredible honor,” said Pat Maloney, Jr. “I’m a proud St. Mary’s graduate, and I believe that all of us should contribute to our communities in any way that we can. Being recognized for that work is a humbling experience, and I’m very grateful to the Hispanic Law Alumni Association for this honor.”
The Hispanic Law Alumni Association “encourages the enrollment of, and provides support to, Hispanic law students and alumni,” though it is open to students and alumni of all ethnic backgrounds. Each year the HLAA recognizes leaders in the community with various awards. It also provides scholarships and grants.
The Henry B. Gonzalez Award “pays tribute to leaders in the community who embody Gonzalez’ spirit of public service and dedication to our community.” Henry B. Gonzalez was a graduate of St. Mary’s, and served San Antonio as a councilman. He was later elected to the Texas State senate before running for Congress. He was the longest serving Hispanic Congressperson, and founder of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus.
Pat Maloney, Jr. graduated from St. Mary’s in 1977 with his juris doctorate. He has been practicing law ever since with Pat Maloney: Accident & Injury Attorney He is certified as a specialist in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, and is a member of multiple legal organizations.
